Boarding

Our first priority is the welfare of the horses in our care. We provide a complete suite of board, medical, dental, farrier and other services that insure each horse receives the best care possible.

Full board is available for mares and geldings as well as stallions. Board included feeding grain twice a day (AM and PM), hay two or three times a day, turnout during the day for a few hours up to half the day or night depending on the needs of your horse.

Pasture board for youngsters

We also offer pasture board for your young horse to be out in our herd of one, two and three-year olds. Pasture board also includes feeding grain once a day and feeding hay as needed. We always make sure that all our youngsters stay in good shape and that they are accepted and integrated into our herd.

Feed

We believe that the amount and quality of feed is critical for keeping a horse healthy and to ensure training success. Our grain is stored in a locked feed room and is delivered every week to ensure it stays fresh and dry. We supply Purina’s Strategy or Horsemans Edge (sweet feed or pellets) depending on your horses needs. Our hay is delivered frequently to avoid wetness and to assure it is of outstanding quality.

Training

All horses in training are worked by our professional staff. Each horse is gently started under saddle between the age of three and four years. As appropriate to age and ability they are trained with both in hand and mounted approaches to build confidence, suppleness, and trust. We also accept a limited number of horses for specialized training at most ages; contact us for an interview and to discuss your specific needs.

Mary Goldberg is the owner of Sport Horse Sales of Texas. She is an avid horsewoman with a lifetime of experience in the breeding and training of horses. Mary has extensive experience with the western discipline as a barrel racer for many years and is currently showing in dressage at Level 3. Her gentle nature and love of horses creates a warm, caring atmosphere at the ranch.

Jonna Wisher is ranch manager and resident trainer at Sport Horse Sales of Texas. She has been raising and training her own horses for many years and stepping into the winner’s circle in all levels since she was 6 years old. Jonna came to Texas from Montana to help horse owners realize their dream of becoming successful partners with their horses. She has the experience and the patience to assure horse and rider achieve their highest potential together.
